Ken and I had dated for three weeks and then got married. We share everything. But this time, we went too far!

When Ken got his diagnosis of breast cancer, I was really worried. When he finished his treatment, I got my diagnosis of breast cancer. There was just no time to think about it. Fortunately, because of everything he went through, we already knew what to expect — except for the reconstruction surgery.

I have multiple sclerosis, which Ken worried could send me downhill in a hurry. But it didn’t. You just have to take things on when they happen and not let them get you down. You deal with it. My feeling is that everything should be positive. You can make yourself very anxious and upset if you think the worst about something. I’ve always been a glass-half-full person.

I’m working on our real estate business, and Ken is right out there with me. We’re still stomping away. As far as we’re concerned, the cancer is over and done. We were very lucky. We don’t even think about it now. We’re just trying to enjoy life, keep things as mellow as we can and go on vacation every once in a while.
