I’ve always told people: It’s not just doctors and nurses who work at Cleveland Clinic. There are so many other jobs at the hospital.

I’m a traffic control officer here. We keep everything and everyone moving safely — vehicles and pedestrians. It can get very hectic on main campus. This is one of the biggest hospitals in the world, so it’s easy to get lost. A lot of people ask us for directions. We’re usually the first Cleveland Clinic employees they meet. You never know what somebody is going through, so we always try to be friendly and respectful.

I’m working my way through college. After I get my associate’s degree, I’ll pursue a bachelor’s degree in political science. Then I want to go to law school.

What I really want to do is go into politics someday. I’d like to start out as a councilman here in my hometown of Cleveland. Then who knows? Maybe run for mayor. Maybe run for governor.

I want to be in a position to help people. I’ve always had an interest in politics because I’ve always wanted to make this world a better place. I want it to be better than it was when I first got here.
