I was visiting my son’s family in Ohio for the holidays.

The day after Christmas, I wasn’t feeling well at all. I had diverticulitis1, and a breach in my intestine caused an infection.

I needed surgery. If I’d had it done at the local hospital, I would’ve had a big incision across my belly. I didn’t want that. So I was referred to Dr. Delaney2 at Cleveland Clinic. He was able to do a minimally invasive procedure.

I really believe in second opinions. The first doctor I saw was very good, but he didn’t do minimally invasive surgery. When I called my regular doctor, he knew about Dr. Delaney. Instead of a big scar, I just ended up with three little holes.

Dr. Delaney is marvelous. I trusted him so much. If he’d said, “I’ve got to take your head off,” I would’ve let him. I’ll never forget him or Cleveland Clinic.
