Caregivers keep the insatiable steam presses well-fed amid the tile walls of Cleveland Clinic’s laundry in the 1940s, when the facility was located in the same building as the power plant. In Northeast Ohio alone, the health system today sends 17 million pounds of laundry annually to the Evergreen Collective, a worker-owned business that employs more than 150 people in a laundry facility near Cleveland Clinic’s main campus.
