Welcome to “Cardboard City.” In a corner of Cleveland Clinic’s main campus, life-size replicas of essential spaces, exact down to the last detail, foreshadow the shapes of things to come. Before actual buildings are constructed with steel and glass, cardboard mock-ups are tested to ensure optimal functionality and attentiveness to every need of patients and caregivers. Seen here is a model of a neurological ICU room that will see the light of day in the new Neurological Institute building, set to open in 2026.
