Fleming Stevens, left, and Andrew Eanes were longtime Cleveland Clinic elevator operators and “hosts” (the forerunners of today’s Red Coats) who greeted visitors, answered their questions and pointed them in the right direction. Eanes in particular prided himself on memorizing the names of patients and their families, as well as the names of his fellow caregivers. His wife, Beatrice, was a Cleveland Clinic housekeeper. Between the two of them, the Eaneses were said to know everything that was happening on the corner of Euclid Avenue and East 93rd Street.
